As a new year unfolds, a new Central Board and Prefect Board have been chosen to be of service to the student body. We would like to extend our heartiest congratulations to the new student leaders elected through the votes of our students and staff. All elected student leaders have shown passion and competence throughout the entirety of the Central Board platform, earning admiration for what they envision and can contribute to the school. We wish them the greatest of success as they venture to bring forth activities, events, and a culture of the highest calibre this school year.

Reach out week
It was announced that the theme for the Central Board 2022-2023 would be Intrépide, meaning being fearless and adventurous in French. During the week, two activities, namely ‘Time Capsule - Be FEARLESS and go after your goals!’ and ‘Busking - Be FEARLESS and show off your talent!’ were held.
The former activity invited students to write down their dreams and goals on a card, and the card would be returned to them at the end of the term, encouraging them to reflect on their goals and achievements throughout the term.
The latter provided a miniature stage for students to unleash potentials and get in touch with the audience.
Together, let’s go Intrépide!

Valentine’s Day Plush Sale
To celebrate Valentine’s Day, the Central Board has put together a plush sale for students to express their appreciation and love towards those around them. Schoolmates were given the choice to pick among eight options, ranging from cute pigs to the bestseller penguins! We were happy to see that schoolmates received the plush animals with big smiles on their faces.

International Women’s Day (IWD)
(In collaboration with Zonta Z Club)
International Women’s Day is a global celebration held annually on 8 March to celebrate women’s accomplishments. This year, the Central Board collaborated with the Zonta Z Club, bringing students two activities related to the theme of IWD2023, #EmbraceEquity. The first was a photo-taking booth for schoolmates to take photos with the official pose of IWD2023, representing ‘Give equity a huge embrace’. The second was a song appreciation activity on the Central Board and Zonta Z clubs’ Instagram pages, where songs about women’s empowerment were shared to all schoolmates to promote gender equality. We hope that schoolmates can appreciate their self-worth and help maintain a fair and harmonious environment for both genders, even within the school setting.

Joint-school Service - GHS x WYK
(In collaboration with Wah Yan College [Kowloon] and Kwun Tong Methodist Social Service)
During this Easter holiday, in collaboration with Wah Yan College, Kowloon, 20 selected F4-5 students participated as volunteers in social service at the Kwun Tong Methodist Social Service. The kids, around 4-6 years old, played games, made handicrafts and enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with the children in the centre. They also performed a drama on Jesus’s resurrection and the true meaning of Easter. The student volunteers were given the chance to further understand and stay connected with those less privileged.Throughout the event, participants were encouraged to raise their sense of social engagement and stay more connected to the community, nurturing future young potentials to serve the community.
This event would not have been possible without collaboration with Wah Yan College, Kowloon and Kwun Tong Methodist Social Service. The Central Board would also like to extend our deepest gratitude to the two parties and contribution to the service.
